Liquid Ferrous Chloride is a solution of FeCl2 in water. It is used primarily in water treatment, micronutrients, and in manufacturing intermediaries. The solution is a free flowing liquid and will remain stable for indefinite periods. Typical properties of Ferrous Chloride are compared with proposed AWWA Standards for Ferric Chloride, an analogous compound.

Although relatively non-corrosive compared to most chemicals, rubberlined, fiberglass, or plastic storage tanks are recommended for use. In small facilities, feeding out of a drum would provide reliability and an economical method.
Stainless steel, mild steel, concrete and unlined metal vessels are not suitable for handling Ferrous Chloride.
