This raw material is found as a colorless gas or when compressed, a water white liquid. It has a sharp, pungent odor and is considered toxic by inhalation. sulfur dioxide is soluble in water, alcohol and ether and forms sulfurous acid (H₂SO₃) readily. It is Noncombustible.
